Whole-Home Backup Power for Ottawa Homes

When the power goes out, a properly sized standby generator and automatic transfer switch (ATS) can keep critical loads running without you lifting a finger. Spark-E Unlimited Electrical Inc. installs and wires Honeywell and Generac backup systems, ensuring they start automatically, switch safely, and meet ESA and Ontario Electrical Safety Code requirements.

From essential-circuit panels to full whole-home backup, we design each system around your home's electrical service, gas supply, and outage risks. We handle the wiring and coordination with your gas contractor so that your generator is ready when you need it most.

We install standby generators across Ottawa, including Nepean, Barrhaven, Kanata, Stittsville, and nearby rural communities. If you're also considering battery backup, have a look at our Tesla Powerwall installation services.

Generac Standby Generators

Generac is one of the most recognized names in residential standby power. We install and wire Generac generators and transfer switches for homeowners who want proven performance, strong support, and flexible configuration options.

  • Wide range of kW sizes for essential loads or whole-home backup
  • Smart transfer switches available for load management and future expansion
  • Remote monitoring options to check status and maintenance alerts

Automatic Transfer Switches & Power Management

The automatic transfer switch (ATS) is the brain of your generator system. It constantly monitors the utility supply, starts the generator when power is lost, and safely switches selected loads over to generator power. When utility power is restored, it transfers back and cools down the generator automatically.

Modern Honeywell and Generac transfer switches can also manage large loads such as electric ranges, air conditioners, or hot tubs. By staggering or shedding these loads, the ATS helps prevent overloading the generator, allowing you to get more from a smaller, more cost-effective unit.

How the Generator Installation Process Works
1. Site Visit & Sizing

We review your panel, preferred generator location, gas meter, and critical loads. From there we size the generator and ATS for your home and discuss whole-home vs essential-circuit options.

2. Installation & Wiring

We set the generator, install the automatic transfer switch, complete all electrical connections, and coordinate with your gas contractor for the fuel line hook-up.

3. ESA Inspection & Startup

ESA inspects the installation. Once approved, we test the system, simulate a power outage, and show you how the generator and ATS operate.
